It’s The End of the Road for Internet Explorer

After a slow transition away from Internet Explorer 11 (IE) support, Microsoft made the official announcement on May 22nd, 2021 that IE will officially retire after more than 25 years on June 15th, 2022. Taking its place among other web browser moguls, such as Google Chrome and Firefox, is Microsoft Edge.

Not only is Microsoft Edge a faster, more modern, and more secure browsing experience, but it also addresses the primary concern of compatibility for older legacy websites and applications with its built-in “IE Mode” that will be supported through at least 2029. This feature will allow users to access legacy IE-based websites and applications directly from Microsoft Edge. While this critical feature will be valuable, as many businesses have the need to access legacy applications, SWICKtech strongly advises putting together a plan today to start replacing these applications for your organization.

Microsoft Edge provide[s] a path to the web’s future, while still respecting the web’s past.

– Microsoft

With its improved compatibility using its dual engine advantage, streamlined productivity capabilities, and better browser security, SWICKtech highly recommends that at home consumers and organizations alike begin making the transition from IE to Microsoft Edge. SWICKtech can help transition passwords, favorites, and browsing data over to Microsoft Edge, while also ensuring that all legacy apps will still be available via IE Mode.

Stop potential hackers in their tracks.
