Microsoft Teams File Migration - Case Study
Microsoft Teams File Migration Keeps a Milwaukee Non-Profit Afloat After Funding Is Wiped Out
A Waukesha-based Community Action Organization used SWICKtech’s IT team to keep its sister-organization in Milwaukee running after an unexpected decrease in funding.
The Milwaukee non-profit with nine locations across the city, serves thousands of local seniors with food, transportation and other services. In early 2019, the non-profit found out a large percentage of their funding would be lost, and cuts would need to be made to operations and staff. The non-profit existed without a traditional IT environment so most of the information about the people they served, fundraising information and other precious data was kept on personal computers and emails. Without getting help quickly, this information could have been lost and thousands of seniors in Milwaukee would lose the help they needed.
Panicked and knowing they should act fast, leadership at the Milwaukee non-profit reached out to its sister-group, the Waukesha action organization (a SWICKtech client), for assistance.
SWICKtech and the Waukesha organization quickly replaced the computers at the Milwaukee non-profit and SWICKtech engineers spun up a Microsoft cloud server to house existing files, implementing, and training on Office 365 and Microsoft Teams.
The existing organization files were migrated over to Microsoft Teams, where key staff from both the Waukesha organization and Milwaukee non-profit were able to easily access and collaborate on important files and documents.
The partnership between these two organizations and SWICKtech remains strong. Efficiency and security increased at the Milwaukee non-profit as a result and thousands of seniors in the city are still getting the support they need today.
“It has always been easy to work with SWICKtech,” said Development Director at the Waukesha-based Community Action Organization. “When myself or a team member had a question, SWICKtech responded to our needs in a timely and professional manner.”
