CMMC Level 3 standards implemented for international water and waste management company

Project Summary: SWICKtech assisted a client in preparing a secure enclave military environment to meet CMMC Level 3 needs as outlined in Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).  

Background: With their USA branch located in IL, this company is a leading provider of integrated water and waste management systems, as well as corrosion-protection systems. With new guidelines built from DFARS to expand upon existing NIST 800-171 compliance, it is driving any manufacturing company wanting to bid on government contracts to review their existing IT infrastructure and policies. Dependent upon what amount of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) or Federal Contract Information (FCI) your business is responsible for keeping safe, all companies wanting to bid on contracts for the government will have to rework their environment towards Level 1 CMMC or Level 3 CMMC. As the organization looks toward the next few years to prepare for audits, maintain compliance and take advantage of future government contracts, SWICKtech was eager to assist. SWICKtech began official work on the project in March 2021. 

Project: SWICKtech worked with internal IT and key leaders to build a secure enclave to keep the scope of their CMMC level 3 audit and certification separate from their corporate environment. This included a secure room with a workstation, printer, networking, firewall, and VPN connectivity to an Azure Government tenant. Utilizing Microsoft’s GCC High and Azure Government technologies, amongst others, SWICKtech ensured any controls, processes, and/or practices needed to meet CMMC standards were met. The client then underwent a pre-assessment readiness review through a 3rd party assessor. Despite the need for minor changes, it was determined the company would pass an actual CMMC Level 3 audit.

Outcome: The international company is setup to pass a CMMC Level 3 audit, maintaining their government contracts, and able to provide more services with the compliances they have gained. SWICKtech will continue with a cybersecurity support agreement to provide ongoing monitoring, maintenance, reporting and address appropriate help desk requests.
